Reaction: Article about Montalvan

The article, ABOUT MONTALVAN, mainly talks about how
population growth can greatly affect the economic status of a certain country.
Well for me, I strongly disagree that population growth had greatly affect the decline of the
economic status of our country, maybe it contributes, but it doesn't mean that
it is really the main reason why Economic Crisis is prevailing in our country right now..

When we talk of economy, it could be that the economic status is in success
or declining. Either of the two can prevail in a certain country wherein
a lot of factors must be considered. Some of these includes how
government officials govern the country, how they manage the
budget allotment for each projects to be done, and how dedicated they are
in serving the people.

Population growth has nothing to do against the decline of economic
status that the Philippines is experiencing because
when we would look at other country, like China, whose population is greater than
what our population is, we can see that they are not experiencing
a tremendous economic crisis that we are experiencing right now.
So, from that example alone we could clearly see that
population growth can never totally affect the economic status of a certain country.
It's just a matter of how good the governance is
and on how dedicated the officials are in serving the people not minding
of the benefits that they could have.

Also in the article, an English demographer named Thomas Robert Malthus
advocated a solution called the "moral restraint and vice" which
states that in controlling the population growth
is to practice late marriage and sexual abstinence. He also
proposed on the use of infanticide, murder, contraception, and homosexuality.
In his proposal, it is very much horrifying that in controlling
the population, disobeying the Law of God is involved and much worst is that
it must only be applied among people who belongs to the
lower class of the society.
I guess, it is very much unfair since social discrimination
is already involved.

Another thing that is being tackled in the article
are the proposed plans of a two child policy, reproductive health and sex education
for the youth. all of these plans has of it's own advantage
as well as a great disadvantage. Advantage in a sense that it could
give knowledge among the youth and it could also help in preventing the
so called abrupt "population bloom" but when we talk of the
disadvantage it could bring, it would cause
a lesser labor force which then could contribute
to a much declining economic status in the future.

For me, all of the proposed plans stated in the
article, can never do a great help and can never be considered
as the best solution for rising the economic status of the Philippines.
Economic rise can be achieved if WE would start
educating and disciplining ourselves
to become a more responsible citizen.
Economic growth and Economic Status is not merely based on the
population's growth but it's just a matter of
GOOD GOVERNANCE and TRUE SERVICE that our government officials
would render to US.
