Montalvan’s article is mainly about the population and the economic status of a country. As what I observed in my country, the Philippines, population really affects its economy. In the other countries, when the population increases, the supply and demand also increases. But here in the Philippines when the population and demand increases, the supply decreases. The needed supplies, such as food, water, and shelter are not sufficient for the growing population. The population should be controlled by means using contraceptives. Why, because as we all know, Philippines is one of the most populated countries of the world and now encountering such problems as flooding of the population, insufficient supply of food and shelter and education. These are the reasons why Philippines is also one of the countries with the lowest economical rate or status.
Well, I am not saying that the population is the only reason why our economy today is getting worse. The other factors that make our economy fall down are the government and the citizens.I think, the government has the power to control the population growth. But It is a fact that the Philippine government is known to be corrupt, and they keep on promising but they broke all their promises. Another thing, our fellow Filipinos should also take responsibilities since they are citizens of this country, and some of them depend on the government. That’s why they are lazy. We shouldn’t put all the blame of what is happening in our society and in our economy to our government leaders. For me, people should be independent and work for their own future. And remember “Thou shall not disobey the rules.” Because once you’ll disobey, you’ll suffer.
